Upon arrival at Arusha/Kilimanjaro airport, your Tanzania Dakado Adventures guide will pick you up and transfer you to your hotel in Arusha or Moshi Tanzania. You’ll settle into your accommodation, relax and enjoy the African atmosphere, ready to start your 2-day Tanzania Dakado Safari (Tanzania BIG 5 Safari) the next day. Arusha is a city in northern Tanzania and the capital of the Arusha Region, located below Mount Meru on the eastern edge of the eastern branch of the Great Rift Valley.
In the early morning, your Tanzania Dakado Adventures guide will pick you up from your hotel in Arusha/Moshi and drive you to Lake Manyara National Park. The park is perhaps best known for its flamingos, pelicans, and cormorants, but it is also home to hundreds of other bird species, making it a paradise for ornithologists.
The “Big Game” can also be seen, including elephants in the wooded regions and, with some luck, tree-climbing lions. Monkeys and baboons are also found amongst the forested areas, while giraffes and various types of antelopes can be seen browsing for tasty shoots in the late afternoon. Afterward, you will leave the Lake Manyara National Park and head to Manyara/Karatu in the Ngorongoro Highlands for dinner and overnight.
Your Tanzania Dakado Adventures guide will take you on an early morning game drive before heading to Ngorongoro Conservation Area, where the whole area is managed for both wildlife and domestic animals (local Masai people) who graze their cattle alongside the indigenous wildlife. During the drive in Ngorongoro, you will have the chance to glimpse something of the Masai way of life.
You will drive around the rim of the Crater itself and have the opportunity to see herds of wildebeest or buffalos. Finally, you will descend into the largest floor of unbroken caldera in the world (Ngorongoro Crater), which is also the home of over 120 species of mammal, including the fabled Big Five.
